VHF Radio Operator Certificate
A Very High Frequency radio is a primary piece of safety equipment. It alows you to receive safety messages put out by other boaters and the Coast Guard, get the latest marine weather report or make a telephone call. This tool not only enables you access to the marine weather forecast in remote coastal areas, but also is your life line to the outside world if you should find yourself in need of assistance.
If you paddler or boats in a marine environment you are required by law to obtain the VHF Radio Operator certification for both safety and compliance with the standard operations in a marine environment.
At the end of this 6 evening course you will be able to communicate and ask for help from the Coast Guard with the VHF radio using proper radio procedure. This course in combination with the "Mapping for Treasure" - Navigation course will set you well on your way to many safe and fun adventures.
