"Beginnings of a Roll" - Roll Clinic
So you have decided that flipping your kayak and swimming is not for you. That's where we come in. We will give you the principles behind rolling your boat and develop your skills towards a bomb proof roll. Rolling is one of the key stages in kayaking which increases confidence and develops your mind to find the flow when in your boat.
Rolling a kayak can be nerve racking. To progress and be safe in paddlesports the roll is essential and will give you the confidence required to take the next step.
This concentrated course will set the fundamental skills required for a bomber combat roll that you will need on the river, in the sea or around the beautiful lakes of Canada. If you’ve just started paddling and want an introduction to rolling, or you’ve tried to roll and need some structured learning then the "beginnings of a roll" course is definitely for you.
A low student to instructor ratio ensures that whatever your skill level, you will get personalized attention in this clinic. You will also benefit from receiving different instructional styles that may clear up a confusing aspect of the rolling process.
Duration: 3 hours of pool or flat water time (1 hour, one night per week lasting for 3 weeks). 10pm - 11pm. The late time is due to the high demand for pool time across the lower mainland)
Location: Britannia Pool or Flat Water (Buntzen Lake, Belcarra)
Equipment: All kayak related equipment is provided. (A nose plug and goggles are strongly recommended unless you enjoy the swift current of water adventerously dancing through your nasal passages.) Pool: You will need to bring swimming gear. (A nose plug and goggles are sometimes used by participants, but not required.)
Lake Environment: You will need to invest in proper kayaking clothing including a wetsuit, drytop or outer layer, and footwear (river shoes, neoprene booties, old runners). All other kayak related equipment is provided (kayak, paddle, PFD, helmet and spray skirt)
