"Iron Out Some Kinks"
Whiterwater is now your chosen hobbie! You are eager to learn more and love the adventure a whitewater environment can provide. We are excited to provide your next step in your basic river running progression course.
Our aim of this course is to coach you through the next beginner steps into class II whitewater, creating an understanding of linking foundation skills and developing confidence running a class II river.
In this 2 day course you will learn how to apply the river running skills you have been practicing and begin to link moves together in class I-II water:
Day One (Recap and More):
Equipment and River Boats
Carrying and Lifting
Grade or Class Scale l - V
Swim the River - You will get Wet!
Balance (Trim and Edge/Lean)
Accuracy and Timing (Speed and Angle)
Down River Speed
Crossing the Current (Ferry Glides)
Breaking In and Out of Eddie
Linking skills in class II water
Day Two (River Running):
Class II River Run
An all in rescue will take place lead by your instructor
Duration: 12 hours of class I/II over 2 days (7 hours pers session)
Time: Sessions will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (meet and leave times)
Location: Mamquam River Race Site
Equipment: All canoe related equipment is provided.
River Environment: You will need to invest in proper canoeing clothing including a wetsuit, drytop or outer layer, and footwear (river shoes, neoprene booties, old runners). All other canoe related equipment is provided (canoe, paddle, PFD canoe helmet)

**Bring a Lunch!!**
- Able to Swim in normal paddling clothing
- Introduction to Whitewater course or equivalent training. It is recommended you have spent time in a boat after this course to practice skills learned on the Introduction to whitewater course.
- A first aid certificate is not a pre-requisite. However holding a first aid certificate is strongly recommended for all paddlers
