Summer Dreams put into Action . . .

Posted by Josh Askew on

Hello paddlers of the world . . .

We hope you have had an amazing summer on the water. As summer winds down for most paddlers we are getting ready for an amazing fall season. Pumped with higher water levels, stronger winds and harder weather conditions coming back to the west coast of Canada.

In this blog post we will be giving you an update on what has been happening at WaterFlow Paddling this summer and what is coming in the near future.

A huge thank you to our paddling community! Here at WaterFlow we’ve had the honour of sponsoring and supporting our local and not so local paddling festivals. The following have been the festivals and races we have sponsored;

  • Jordan Race and Festival - Revelstoke, BC
  • Clearwater Festival - Clearwater, BC
  • Vancouver Whitewater Club Chilliwack Social - Chilliwack, BC

This season has been amazingly busy, filled with teaching new paddlers, developing our beginner/intermediate paddlers and our instructors have been busy leading wedding parties and truly progressing our community into it’s future.

A monumental and exciting project has come to light over the month of August. Just North of Whistler in Pemberton, BC we have a hidden gem nestled within the mountains. The Rutherford Whitewater Course has been reborn into our community. It has taken a gruelling seven year process to renovate this course, building a safe and diverse course for the future community to use. Currently the use of this course is limited, as it still has some improvements before the general population can use this site safely. In addition, the operation and maintenance of this site will require formal training and education.

It has been an honour to follow Rob Fletcher of the CKBC (Canoe Kayak British Columbia) in his journey of spearheading this project and watching his hard work come to light over the past few months. Thank you Rob for everything you have done, you are truly an inspiration in our community.

Do you ever wonder what it’s like to go Back to the Future? WaterFlow offers a series of courses for beginner to advanced paddlers. Our “Back to the Future” - base progression course specializes in transforming a class II paddler into a confident class III paddler. This course is designed to builds a paddler’s confidence and skill level to a place that promotes textbook river running skills. Our instructors are anxiously awaiting to teach and support the intermediate paddler. Showing how these rivers can offer a diverse environment which builds principle skills for their next stage in paddling.

Finally we would like to announce our End of Summer Sale!!!! On September 17th through to 23rd we will be offering a store wide 20% discount. Come and join in this celebration of the 2018 summer paddling season! Treat yourself . . . You deserve some new equipment.

We appreciate you. We will be back with our Fall Blog post just before most of our paddlers begin to exchange from blade and boar to skis and boards.

Happy Paddling,

Josh Askew, proud Owner at WaterFlow Paddling.
